Hiroshima Day, 6 August

Tomorrow – 6 August – is Hiroshima Day, the anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, killing an estimated 140,000 people.

The local CND group will mark the anniversary with a vigil and readings in Redhill and Reigate and a parade between the two towns.

As well as remembering the event and paying respects to those killed, injured and bereaved at Hiroshima, they will be reminding people that nuclear conflict could happen again unless we say NO to Trident renewal.

If you’re in either town, please go along to support them.

11.45 – gather at Redhill town pedestrian centre (by Lloyd’s bank)
12.00 – vigil and readings
12.15 – parade to Reigate giving out leaflets
13.00 – gather at Reigate ‘OLD’ Town hall for vigil and readings
13.15 – retire to picnic/games in Priory Park
