On 23 June we’ll be voting on whether Britain should leave or stay in the European Union.
We’ve all heard a wide range of views on this, with politicians arguing fiercely on both sides. So what’s our view?
Greens are strongly in favour of Britain remaining a member of the EU. We believe that by working together we can better face the challenges of the 21st century, from climate change to the refugee crisis.
EU membership is also vital for protecting workers rights, with some of our strongest employment legislation produced by the European Parliament.
We know the EU is far from perfect and want change: more accountability, more democracy, and stronger regulation of transnational big business, including the banks. It is easier to work for these changes from inside than outside the EU.
By working together with our closest neighbours, we can build a better Europe and secure a fairer, safer, greener future.
Help us spread the word!
Three ways you can get involved
- Deliver leaflets in streets near your home. Please contact Nicky if you can help.
- Bring your environmentally-conscious friends along to discuss what leaving the EU would mean for the UK’s environment with a panel of speakers at a free public meeting in Reigate on Thursday 26th of May.
- Invite your friends and family for a night out, and hear from our own Green Councillor Jonathan Essex and other speakers at the Stronger In rally in Dorking on Friday 27th of May.
