Four chances to have your say

Several consultations open now give you a chance to have your say on important local issues.

Surrey County Council is consulting on the Traffic and Transport Management Plan for the Horse Hill oil production site. Campaigners say the plan poses a real risk to other road users and if approved, threatens disturbance for local residents – for 20 years. Read more and respond by Friday 31 January.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council is revising its ‘supplementary planning documents’ on Affordable Housing, Barn and Farm Conversions, Historic Parks and Gardens, and Reigate Shopfronts.  These documents will guide decisions on future planning applications.  You can view the four draft SDPs and other supporting documents on the Council’s website or at the Town Hall or libraries in the Borough. Send in your comments by email or post by Saturday 8 February.

Surrey County Council is consulting on the future of Universal Open Access Youth Work. They are proposing that existing youth centres are used to their full potential by enabling the voluntary and community sector to use the centres for the benefit of young people for little or no cost. Read more and have your say by 30 April.

Local NHS bosses have launched a consultation on the future of hospital provision in South West London and Surrey – including the northern half of our area. Their “preferred option” is for Epsom hospital and St Helier hospital to lose their A&E, Maternity, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Cancer Care, Coronary Care, Emergency Surgery and Emergency Medicine services – to be replaced with a new, smaller ‘acute facility, adjacent to the Royal Marsden hospital. Read more and sign a petition against this plan on the Keep Our St Helier Hospital (KOSHH) Campaign website.
