Launch of the Surrey Climate Commission
20 June, 5.30-8pm, WWF Living Planet Centre, Woking

As an affluent region with a developed economy, Surrey can and should be a leader in the UK and worldwide in responding to the urgent challenge of climate change, showing what can be done to reduce climate-related risks and enhance security and well-being.

The Surrey Climate Commission will bring together the business community, academia and public and third sector bodies to work together to make the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.

Come and network with others working on this vital issue, and hear from speakers including Green Councillor Jonathan Essex.

Extinction Rebellion Redhill and Reigate Launch
21 June, 7.30 for 8pm, Quaker Meeting House, 47 Reigate Road, RH2 0QT

Following the direct action seen across London since last November, Extinction Rebellion has been flourishing across the country. Local groups are rising up to take on the climate emergency close to home, and demanding attention from councils for these critical issues.

Redhill and Reigate are working with groups across Surrey to campaign against the council pension fund’s investment in fossil fuel industries, and the ongoing oil drilling at Horse Hill in Horley. We want Surrey County Council to face up to the Climate Emergency, and take action now!

Come along to hear local people talk about their experiences within XR, find out about our plans, and to see if you’d like to get involved.

Join the Facebook event – or just come along.
