East Surrey Parliamentary Candidate Selection Ballot

We are selecting a candidate to stand in East Surrey constituency at the next General Election. The next election is not due until 2022, but these are uncertain times and we want to make sure we are ready to campaign should a snap election be called.

We have made two calls for candidates and one person, Joseph Booton, has completed the nomination procedure.

All Green Party members living in the constituency can vote in the selection process.  Vote now in our online ballot.  This is a secret ballot and noone will know who has voted or how they voted.

If you don’t want to vote for Joseph, you can vote to reopen nominations.

The ballot will remain open till 12 noon on Friday 31 May. If you have any questions about it, please contact Sarah Finch, Deputy Returning Officer, on sarahjanefinch@gmail.com

About Joseph Booton

Joseph has lived in the local area for 27 years. He works in the Quality & Complaints department for a major retirement firm in Reigate. Joseph also performs Punch & Judy shows for a range of local fetes and festivals including the Horley Carnival, Tandridge Fete, Bletchingley Village Fair and the Caterham Festival.

Joseph was a Green Party candidate in the recent Borough elections where he came second, beating the Labour and Liberal Democrat candidates. His key areas of focus are ensuring the Green Belt remains protected from development and ensuring our local parks and open spaces are preserved for our residents to enjoy. Joseph is a sponsor of Cats Protection and believes passionately in caring for the animals that we share our constituency with.

By standing as a candidate, Joseph wants to ensure a voice is given to voters who are looking for a change from the repetitive Conservative wins that have defined this area for the past century. Joseph also believes it is important for those concerned about the environment of our local constituency and the future development plans earmarked for it, to be heard.
